KEYSTONE Prehma FG-shank tungsten Carbide Burs are intra-oral cutting tools used by dentists at the chair in high-speed handpieces for cavity preparation, caries excavation, crown reduction, and access-cavity refinement. The FG (Friction-Grip) shank is the 1.6 mm shank standard that grips into the high-speed handpiece chuck without a latch — it is the standard mount for chair-side intraoral high-speed work.
(FG Burs are distinct from HP Burs, which are 3/32" / 2.35 mm lab-bench shanks for the Laboratory side. FG is intraoral mouth use; HP is lab bench only. Do not confuse the two — they are not interchangeable in either chuck.)

KEYSTONE Prehma FG-shank tungsten Carbide Burs are intra-oral medical devices regulated as Class I (US FDA) and CE-marked Class IIa (EU MDR) where applicable. Intended for use by licensed dental professionals on dental hard tissues during operative procedures. Manufactured by KEYSTONE Industries.
Mounting. Insert the FG bur fully into the high-speed handpiece chuck until it seats. Verify the bur is locked by lightly pulling on the head before bringing to working speed.
Operating. Use water-coolant spray at all times during intra-oral cutting to prevent thermal damage to the pulp and surrounding tissues. Light pressure is sufficient — Carbide cuts on its own and heavy hand-loading risks fracturing the bur or generating excessive heat.
What Carbide is NOT for: finishing glass-ceramic restorations or zirconia margins — use diamond Burs for ceramic materials. Carbide is appropriate for natural enamel, dentine, and amalgam.
