Description
Mineralized Bone grafts are often used because they provide a scaffold for new Bone growth, and over time, they are replaced by the patient's own Bone through a process called remodeling. This remodeling process involves both the formation of new Bone (ossification) and the resorption of the graft material.
It's important to note that the resorption process can take months to years, and the rate of resorption can be influenced by factors such as the size and shape of the graft particles, the degree of mineralization, the patient's health status, and the specific site of Grafting in the body.
Keep in mind that while most Mineralized Bone grafts are designed to be Resorbable, not all of them are. Some Bone graft materials, particularly some types of alloplasts, are designed to be non-Resorbable and provide a permanent scaffold for Bone growth. Always consult with a medical professional or surgeon for detailed information about specific graft materials.
